The Chicago Food Truck Fest is an annual gathering of gourmet food trucks in the South Loop of Chicago, IL during the summer. The fest was select one of the best food truck fest in America. The event debuted at U.S. Cellular Field in 2014. In 2015, U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk of Illinois made a visit to the Chicago Food Truck Fest to urge Chicago lawmakers to lift restrictions on food trucks to allow them to better prosper. Also, in 2015, WGN sat down with the event creator Alex Blackshire for an in depth discussion about the event and the food truck scene in Chicago.
In 2015, the Chicago Food Truck Fest made a location change to the South Loop in order to make room for the burgeoning crowds. Chicago Food Truck Fest has become a mainstay helping local food truck operators by hosting dedicated food truck festivals. In 2017, Chicago Food Truck Festival began curating and cultivating a food truck rotation at the newly renovated Park at Wrigley for the World Champion Chicago Cubs.
